Leslie Jones Turns Heads in Red Gown at Ghostbusters Premiere After Designer Ordeal
Leslie Jones turned heads and got her Cinderella moment at the premiere of Ghostbusters Saturday, thanks to a certain designer who heeded her call.
The SNL actress and comedienne, who plays her biggest role yet in the rebooted film, wowed in a bright red, off-the-shoulder Christian Siriano gown with a thigh-high slit, paired with sparkling Vince Camuto stiletto sandals and a matching chunky DanniJo necklace, Chris Aire earrings and a Judith Leiber clutch.
Jones, who is also known best for her no holds barred stand-up comedy rather than her fashion style, had on June 28 tweeted, “It’s so funny how there are no designers wanting to help me with a premiere dress for movie. Hmmm that will change and I remember everything.”
Her post sparked mixed reactions and reignited discussion about high fashion body standards and the pressure women in Hollywood face to conform to them. And there was one man who immediately took to Twitter to offer help: Designer and Project Runway alum Siriano. He and Jones met up days later to consult on the perfect outfit for the Ghostbusters premiere in Los Angeles.
And on Saturday, victory was theirs.
At the Ghostbusters premiere, Jones’ smile said it all, as did several people the actress retweeted.
“To all those designers who refused to dress @Lesdoggg, you must be feeling dumb as s–t. She is perfection.” one person wrote.
Siriano had tweeted last month, “It shouldn’t be exceptional to work with brilliant people just because they’re not sample size. Congrats aren’t in order, a change is.”
He himself did not attend the Ghostbusters premiere—he and partner Brad Walsh got married hours earlier.
