Adele's “Hello” Press Tour: 5 Quotes That Made Us Feel All the Feelings
The world got a dose of emotion today when the 27-year-old singer released “Hello,” the first single off her upcoming album, 25. And although the song is already enough to ruin your eye makeup on the drive to work or to put your mood in a nostalgic roller coaster on it’s own, we’ve learned that Adele’s interviews promoting her latest also give us the feels.
Whether she’s talking about her fearful comeback, her current relationship, Twitter or just deciding to focus on herself this time around, the Grammy award winner gave us quotes that we can’t help but admire.
Here’s a roundup of five quotes from her press tour that just stuck with us:
Z100 with Elvis Duran: “I was so frightened that no one cared! When the advert when out in England on Sunday night I was like, ‘Oh my god everyone’s just going to think it’s an advert for like a furniture store or something! No one’s going to know it’s me!’ so I just went onto my browser and just typed in the normal Twitter.com and there’s that one tweet, so I thought I missed the window and no one was bothered.”
(We’ll always care about you, girl!)
Beats 1 with Zane Lowe: “I feel like how I feel about myself is how I’m going to feel about myself forever. I feel like the idea of naming albums after my age is always to show a photograph of what’s going on in my life [at that time]. I feel like not that much is going to change profoundly in me from now on, in terms of how important years of my life are to myself.”
(So much wisdom.)
BBC Radio 2: “There was also a period where I thought, ‘Maybe I should just go out on a high. Maybe people have heard enough of me. Maybe that’s all they want to hear,'” she added. “I didn’t want to come back with anything that people wouldn’t like.”
(Adele, there will never be something you put out that we don’t like.)
On-Air With Ryan Seacrest: “We’re like in a solid relationship and he’s my soul mate and my best mate, and he sees it as my art and my outlet and something that I did before him,” she explained. “[‘Hello’] is not about a past boyfriend or anything like that, but if it was, I think he’d be alright with it anyway because we’re in a strong healthy place. It wouldn’t be an issue.”
(Did somebody say #relationshipgoals?)
SiriusXM: “My last record was labeled a ‘breakup record,’ and rightly so, it was a breakup record, but this one is about how I feel as opposed to how someone else has made me feel,” Adele said.
“It’s about how I’ve made myself feel. That’s why it’s a make-up record because I’m dealing with myself for the first time in my life. I’m dealing with my emotions, I’m dealing with my traits, I’m dealing with my habits and I’m trying to understand them and work them out, just so I could feel a bit lighter, really, and not be so confused by myself all the time.”
(Whoa. Excuse us while we delve into a deep pit of self-reflection.)
Kate Hudson couldn’t hold back the tears, either.
