2015 Oscars Red Carpet by the Numbers: $7.5 Million in Diamonds, 6,000 Pearls, 9 Versace Dresses & More!

The curtains have closed on the 2015 Oscars, but we’re still all agog about those red carpet gowns!

And even more than just dresses, we’re interested in numbers—which is why we counted the most worn designers, common color for suits and carried-on-the-carpet clutches. With a little bit of research (and a lot of day-after-the-Oscars caffeine) we’ve also rounded up the most interesting facts and tidbits about the custom gowns and ultra-luxe gems on the carpet. Read on for the digits we found most staggering below!

6,000: Pearls on custom Calvin Klein Collection column gown Lupita Nyong’o wore. (It’s still unclear how much a 6,000 pearl-adorned gown actually weighs, however.)

80,000: Hand-painted sequins adorning Oscar winner Julianne Moore‘s Chanel Haute Couture gown, which was designed by Karl Lagerfeld, sewn by 27 people and finished in, oh, just 987 hours.

25: Number of people it took to craft Lady Gaga‘s custom Alaïa gown (in no less than 1,600 hours). This, by the way, is the one (and only one) custom-made dress that Azzedine Alaïa has designed for a star to wear on the red carpet.
